  • Altitude 550m
  • 325 peoples
  • designated "floral town" with 1 flower

The village of Monêtier-Allemont is built on a former Gallo-Roman setting.

The excavations during the construction of the highway A51 have shown how important this site was.

To see

The heritage of the municipality includes the old castle reconverted into housing accommodation and the remains of a tower.
If you like sundials go and search the Cornucopia: ... it illustrates a splendid contemporary sundial that adorns a building wall in the village.

Note that you walk in the footsteps of Napoleon: the emperor crossed the town on March 5, 1815 on his way to the city of Gap.

See the website route Napoléon

or look at the  cart of Route Napoléon.

In the vicinity, the lake (carp fishing at night) and the Durance attract anglers through the great diversity of species in the area. Fruit tree horticulture also benefits from the Durance River: many orchards are bathed in sunlight and water.

A nice hiking trail takes you along the balcony of the peak of Crignes-Mountain and reveals an impressive landscape sprinkled with orchards.

Reach the sky by following this medium-difficulty hiking tour (6km, 3:15). The departure is at the fruit farm of the petite Queylanne. It leads you to the peak of Crigne, which is classified as a Natura 2000 site for the large variety of birds that are to observe in its cliff area.  From up there you overhang the Durance valley and orchards!
